As our organization continues to grow and advocate for high-quality content for kids and their families, we are thrilled to be adding new member shows that exemplify great education and entertainment.

Here’s a quick introduction to some of our newer Kids Listen member shows that you should get to know:

Hey Black Child: The Podcast

Like You

Like You is a mindfulness podcast for kids. We use breathing, affirmations, music, and imagination to explore feelings, relieve anxiety, encourage self-esteem, and grow empathy, all while having fun! Our podcast creates a safe, calming, and relaxing audio experience for children as they learn to find beauty and wonder in themselves and the world. Subscribe to get a new episode every Tuesday. We created the podcast with kids in mind, but we welcome listeners of any age group, including parents, grandparents, or grown-ups who just want to get more in touch with themselves and their inner-child.

Mary Farfisa’s Outer Space Radio Theater

We’re thrilled to have this great storytelling kidcast join our membership! Mary Farfisa is an eight-year-old spacegirl who travels the Galaxies on her space horse, Briscoe. Mary goes from planet to planet, searching for “songs and sounds and music and noise” to share with the rest of the Universe. Mary catches the songs and sounds and music and noise in her “audio lasso.” Then she brings them to the Listener’s Library — an intergalactic collection of sounds, curated by music-loving super-beings called the Listeners. Mary’s musical assignments have taken her many places: to a planet of living bells… into the past to collect the sounds of vanished interplanetary dinosaurs … and to a space rodeo on an asteroid, where music students rope, ride, and catch the musical instruments they dream of playing in an orchestra. Mary and Briscoe have searched for a legendary musical instrument called the Padiddywhissle … and investigated a living lullaby that puts people to sleep wherever it wanders. Mary’s adventures are exciting, funny, and fun. But each episode also teaches something about a certain style of music or deals with some aspect of learning music that kids can relate to.

Stories for Wonderful Children

A father of three daughters, Dan Wendelin has been telling his three children a new bedtime story every night for more than fifteen years. For many of those years, he recorded the stories on a dictaphone so that his children could listen to their favorites again. Over time, nieces and nephews began listening to the recordings as well. He reports that family members had encouraged him to do something to make the recordings more widely available, but he had never found the time to do so. Then, the pandemic struck. Like so many, Wendelin found that he now had time to dedicate to listening to those old recordings and editing them to create a podcast. The first episode of “Stories for Wonderful Children” went live in August of 2020, and new stories are released every Wednesday and Sunday. These spontaneous stories were made up on the spot, frequently responding to his children’s questions, requests, and wisecracks. Come take a bedside seat and listen in on these Stories for Wonderful Children, available on the Kids Listen app and most other podcast providers.
