KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait. Zawya. June 17, 2012. (English). -In the build up to its much anticipated opening at The Avenues later this year, KidZania Kuwait, the world-leading ‘edutainment’ brand operated by M. H. Alshaya, is pleased to reveal Burger King as the latest brand to sponsor an establishment in the child-sized city, due to open in the Phase III extension of The Avenues.

Distinguished as one of the world’s most recognized restaurants, and the original ‘Home of the Whopper’, Burger King will sponsor the Hamburger Shop establishment within KidZania Kuwait, where kids can role play as Burger King crew members, and stay true to Burger King’s “Have it Your Way” philosophy by being able to create their own hamburgers in an enjoyable and dynamic setting. Citizens of KidZania, also known as KidZanians, will also learn about the hygiene process behind the scenes; such as wearing a Burger King apron and how to wash their hands for proper food handling. In addition, Burger King will also provide a point-of-sale where kids and their parents can enjoy Burger King’s many iconic mouthwatering meals in KidZania’s Central Plaza.

Mrs. Fadwa Al Homaizi, Chairwoman and CEO of Kout Food Group ( KFG ) — the exclusive franchisee for Burger King in Kuwait, expressed her delight to be part of Kidzania. “It fits perfectly with our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme that focuses on youth and what’s better than to start with the entrepreneurial experience that covers all aspects of a business, and in this case the Restaurant Business: from leading and managing to working as a team, to cooking and cleaning.” Mrs. Al Homaizi added: “when kids experience responsibility at that age, they learn to become accountable adults ready to lead.”

Fernando Medroa, Vice President of the Leisure and Entertainment at M. H. Alshaya stated: “KidZania combines realism with entertainment, and provides an authentic and powerful developmental experience where kids are in control of their own world. We are pleased to partner with Burger King, and believe they will enrich kids with authentic, immersive and rewarding experiences.”

Kout Food Group , the Burger King franchisee that operates 61 restaurants in Kuwait since 1997, has been awarded the prestigious “Franchisee of the Year” award. The prize, which is awarded by the Burger King Middle East Service Centre on an annual basis, recognizes the Burger King franchisee in the Middle East region that has achieved the best business results in 2011, demonstrated a strong development focus and delivered excellent operations in its restaurants.

KidZania offers education and entertainment in a concept known as ‘edutainment’. It is an indoor theme park that allows kids the ability to role-play adult jobs in a replica city designed to stimulate real-life, complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy and recognizable destinations in the form of ‘establishments’ that are sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands such as Burger King. It further enables kids to lead independent lives and to better understand the world of grown-ups by being grown-ups themselves.
