DUBAI, United Arab Emirates. AMEINFO. June 1, 2012. (English). -One child’s wish to become an environmentalist was selected out of over 400 wishes by a panel of judges to celebrate World Environment Day, courtesy of The Coca-Cola Company and AGL Coca-Cola UAE and Oman, further promoting the Greener World Initiative together with the support of Emirates Wildlife Society in association with WWWF (EWS-WWF).

The initiative started last week in KidZania, the award-winning children’s ‘edutainment’ destination in The Dubai Mall, and was part of the ‘KidZ for a Greener World’ global campaign, which underlined the importance of environmental stewardship and united the children of the world to take care of the planet, from Earth Day, April 22, to World Environment Day, June 5.

KidZania engaged children of all ages in sharing their wishes for a greener world based on the core themes of Energy and Water, Climate, Wildlife, and Recycling.

All week, kids have been making their way towards KidZania to write their wishes on recycled paper to put inside a Coca-Cola bottle, which was then placed on an entirely recyclable double-sided wall called the Coca-Cola Wish Wall.

“Children at KidZania learned a lot about what they can do for the environment during the ‘KidZ for a Greener World’ global initiative. During the ongoing activity, several young ones expressed their wishes for a healthier planet. It’s important for the next generation to be aware of environmental issues and to realise that they can take action and make a difference. Thanks to the commitment from Coca-Cola, now the wish will come true,” said Ric Fearnett, Mayor, KidZania Dubai.

“Our corporate CSR vision is to earn our social license to operate, to engage children and adults alike in our environmental initiatives and, more specifically, to remind consumers that packages have value and need to be recycled so that they can serve another purpose,” said Meghna Laxman, CSR Manager of AGL Coca-Cola U.A.E. & Oman.

The Coca-Cola Company aims to support clean and healthy environments across the globe to bring awareness and educate the public on environmental issues. Through sustainability-driven initiatives, Coca-Cola further commits to their “Live Positively” ethos by making a positive difference in the world.
