Foundation Day at KidZania Kuala Lumpur!

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. KidZania Journal. February 27, 2012. (English). KidZania Kuala Lumpur, officially became the ninth KidZania city in the world today during its Foundation Day ceremony. Continuing the proud KidZania traditions that first originated from Mexico, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education unveiled the Eternal Spirit of KidZania Kuala Lumpur, igniting the path to an award-winning edutainment center for kids. Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Y.A.B Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Bin Haji Mohd Yassin, was also presented the key to the City during the event.

Tunku Dato’ Ahmad Burhanuddin, Managing Director and CEO of Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd and Governor of KidZania Malaysia said “KidZania’s Foundation Day is a symbol of the establishment of a new KidZania city. We are proud to bring the fastest growing educational and entertainment brand in the world to the children of Malaysia. KidZania’s unique concept of education-based entertainment will aid developmental growth and inspire confidence, creativity and innovation among children.”

“Kids love to imagine themselves performing adult professions. At KidZania Kuala Lumpur, they can experience the world of adults through 90 authentic role playing activities becoming photographers, engineers, models, TV hosts, pilots, doctors or a host of other occupations. Real-world brands are a key component to KidZania’s success. The participation of renowned local and international brands adds a further sense of realism to the city, thus enriching the educational experience for the kids.”

KidZania Kuala Lumpur also honored its industry partners by presenting them with keys to the KidZania City. Present at the event were Mr. Xavier Lopez Ancona, KidZania’s Founder and President; His Excellency Alfredo Rogerio Pérez Bravo, the Mexican Ambassador to Malaysia; Tan Sri Amirsham A Aziz, Chairman of Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd; Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Ali Redhauddin ibni Tuanku Muhriz, Chairman of Rakan Riang Sdn Bhd; Tunku Dato’ Ahmad Burhanuddin, Managing Director and CEO of Themed Attractions and Resorts Sdn Bhd along with KidZania’s Industry Partners and international delegates from other KidZania cities around the world.

Spread over 7,400m2 across two levels, KidZania Kuala Lumpur is conveniently located in the Curve NX opposite the Curve shopping mall in Mutiara Damansara. KidZania Kuala Lumpur offers over 90 different role-plays in 60 different establishments.

KidZania Founder and President, Mr. Xavier Lopez Ancona said “We are excited to launch KidZania here in Malaysia and to introduce this unique edutainment concept for the Malaysian market. The Foundation Day events featured dance performances together with a live marching band. After the event, there was a walkabout with Tan Sri Muhyiddin, who admired the various establishments in KidZania Kuala Lumpur and later witnessed KidZania heroic kid firefighters extinguishing a fire at one of KidZania’s “burning” buildings. Earlier, the children pledged their allegiance to their KidZania nation by reading the Declaration of Independence and singing the KidZania National Anthem as the KidZania flag was hoisted alongside the flags of Malaysia and Mexico.

KidZania Kuala Lumpur is a joint development by Themed Attractions and Boustead Group, via their joint-venture company, Rakan Riang Sdn Bhd. KidZania Kuala Lumpur is expected to attract over 500,000 visitors annually. It offers a host of activities that will not only keep kids entertained for hours, but also prepare them for a better world.

The tickets are priced at RM55 (for MyKad holder) and RM75 (non-MyKad holder) for children and RM35 (for MyKad holders) and RM55 (non-MyKad holder) for adults. Once KidZania Kuala Lumpur opens its doors on February 28th, its operating hours will be from 10:00am to 5:00pm from Mondays to Fridays. For Saturdays, Sundays as well as School and Public Holidays, KidZania Kuala Lumpur open for two shifts: from 10:00am to 3:00pm and from 4:00pm to 9:00pm.
