Dashbuilder Data

Dashbuilder is an open-source general-purpose dashboard and reporting tool integrated into Business Central that allows the design of custom pages. You can check the project here. Dashbuilder in Business Central can be accessed using the Datasets editor and Content Manager page, which consists of the following parts:

  1. Datasets
  2. Perspectives (or Pages)
  3. Navigation

Dashbuilder Data Transfer

You can access the Import/Export feature through a new screen called Dashbuilder Data Transfer on the Settings page, restricted for only administrators users.

Importing and Exporting data

To export existing data, access the Dashbuilder Data Transfer screen and click on button Export. A ZIP file containing all Datasets, Perspectives and Navigation will automatically be downloaded (if it doesn’t, check your browser settings asking for permissions).

The downloaded file export.zip will have the following structure:

To import data from a ZIP file, make sure your archive has the same structure as above. Not all data is required, so you can import just Perspectives and leave Datasets untouched. Then, go to Dashbuilder Data Transfer screen, upload your ZIP and click on button Import.

A popup will show all files imported and the UI will be automatically refreshed according to what you have imported.
