The Ground Truth Dialectical Engine unzips the straight jacket that writing has wrapped around your perceptions of the world. This is not thinking outside of the box. It is stepping outside the system that creates those boxes…to find the reality behind our collective illusion.

The Illusion is in the mind. The body senses reality. So we start with a state-based concept for the mind that the object (you) can test in reality. The Killing Medusa website deconstructs Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, which reveals numerous inconsistencies and contradictions. That’s understandable. Psychiatrists view our dynamic minds through frozen diagnostic silos bisected by the spreadsheets of for-profit medicine.

To be fair, these medical professionals are dealing with observable phenomena: the social traits of restless humans. So I gathered the ADHD symptoms that matched up with me and looked into a more objective space: the environments we inhabit. From this flipped perspective I found that my “abnormal” behavior describes someone oriented to nature’s fluid reality but trapped within the artificial structures of the state-managed farm. From that I created a new and more accurate concept: the Outside Mind.

The pivotal trait identified by this Concept/Object dialectic is hyperfocus, a common yet mysterious ADHD “symptom.” Its widely accepted definition — a state of intense concentration — is vague to the point of useless. Yet I know how my hyperfocus works. It’s the narrow, indoor version of a powerful outdoor mental state that integrates the brain and body with a specific environment’s energy flows. I call it HyperFlow, a synthesis of two well-known concepts:

  • Flow (from psychology): full immersion in enjoyable, challenging and skilled activity.
  • Zanshin (from karate): total awareness of your surroundings.

I tested HyperFlow against activities that I know trigger it: motorcycle riding, solo backcountry skiing, combat reporting and information warfare. This revealed that dropping into HyperFlow requires the alignment of three components: Mind, Setting & Capability. The Mind is that of an Outsider (ADHD label not required!) The Setting is established by a specific goal, which identifies the fluid and challenging environment that I must navigate to reach it. The Capability is my body plus — if needed — a tool (e.g., motorcycle) that enables the mind to perceive and project energy.

When these components align to trigger HyperFlow visual cognition (thinking without words) takes full control of my decision cycle. Present, past and future align within a networked mental map that stretches across the energy fabric of the Setting. My mind elevates onto this dynamic four-dimensional field, where I can predict — and sometimes shift — the present and future course of its energy flows. Most importantly I lose self-consciousness, which removes the distortions of ambition, desire, insecurity, vanity, etc.

Were such intense and exhilarating mental states essential for survival before our species started to move indoors? If so, that many of us retain this free-range echo isn’t surprising. The state only conquered the majority of humans around 1600, and we are just a few generations into mass literacy. But I suspect we are a dying breed within the relentless domestication of homo sapiens, which digital technology has thrust into over drive. The Internet, however, has opened a unique and unprecedented opportunity for Outside Minds: rapid access to all public information. We can escape the frozen confines of writing and create “real time” four-dimensional maps of the abstract energy field created by public information.

The upshot: we can predict (and perhaps impact) the future course of waves pulsing through that field. I know this is possible from my information warfare experience within the structures of the state. Because I saw several moves ahead of my opponents — or, perhaps more accurately, they were several moves behind me — I could collapse their decision-making with well-timed strikes. They saw what hit them, but could not determine how or who. Such is the fate of linear minds in fluid settings.

Information warfare led me to John Boyd, whose OODA Loop describes the dialectical strategy and tacticts I deployed for clients at national and international levels. He used similar techniques in a years-long internal insurgency against the U.S. Air Force and its contractors. And I see the same techniques deployed by Vladimir Putin today. Our instinctive approach — no training or manual — indicates that some Outside Minds in HyperFlow can perceive abstract energy like physical energy.

Does this indicate the mental state is not only genetic, but follows the principles of physics? This project attempts to answer that question by standing on Boyd’s formidable shoulders. His campaign against the military-industrial complex opened with a devastating salvo. The one-time lead instructor at the elite Fighter Weapons School uncovered the formula (Energy-Maneuverability Theory) that made him an unbeatable fighter pilot. Armed with that mathematical code, Boyd proved that the Air Force’s expensive new jets were inferior to their Soviet counterparts. Then he designed the ultimate HyperFlow capability: the inexpensive, lightweight F-16, which his biographer labelled a “plot against the Air Force.”

As the first generation F-16 rolled off the production line, Boyd went meta-cognitive and examined the science behind his ability to outwit the world’s most dangerous bureaucracy. He compressed this thinking into Killing Medusa’s guiding document, Destruction and Creation. Its scientific principles will help us externalize HyperFlow into a capability called the Tesseract — a four-dimensional cube within a cube structured around the components that trigger HyperFlow. The outer cube is the Setting; the inner is the Capability wrapped around the Mind. The environment’s energy flows circulate between them. Think of the Tesseract as an abstract F-16 — a HyperFlow tool for surfing the waves pulsing through the state’s systems of literate control.
