Axel Springer has developed a service based on KILT’s open source blockchain protocol. With this milestone, Axel Springer has laid the foundation for further implementations using Web3 technologies.

Once live, the service enables users to create a decentralized wallet, which is then directly available for logging in to web applications. Users thus retain full control over their own data, as the use of blockchain technology allows users to manage their own identity in a secure and decentralized manner.

“We believe that identity protection is critical for users and believe that decentralized identities will become more relevant in the future. We are excited to make further developments in this area. The prototype for wallet creation and decentralized login provides an optimal foundation for knowledge building in the area of Web3 technologies,” says Samir Fadlallah, CIO Axel Springer SE.

To build on this successful project, a long-term partnership and the implementation of further use cases together with KILT Protocol is planned. Both companies want to remain pioneers in the field of Web3 technology.

Ingo Rübe, founder of KILT, says: “KILT’s mission is to give users back control over their personal data. This is one of the key elements of Web3. We are excited to continue our collaboration with Axel Springer in this direction, as it paves the way for many more exciting Web3 applications within the media industry. We believe that Web3 will become more important in all areas of life as users become increasingly concerned about the security and privacy of their personal data.”
