Double trouble? Nope! Twice the fun!!

Being a twin is pretty special. Imagine having someone by your side from the very first moments…

My husband and I love our identical twin daughters dearly. On one hand, we aim to protect and nurture the obvious and very special bond between our girls; while on the other (and probably more importantly), empower them to grow into their individual personalities, strengths and capabilities — engraining their strong self-belief that they are just as special by themselves, as in their birth set.

We’ve never referred to our two as “the twins,” have provided different clothes and bedrooms, set up week-long, stay-away holidays at their grandparents’ house by themselves, arranged separate classes at school and are trying hard to offer different extra-curricular activities based on their individual interests.

However, despite all this, they’re two children of the same age and gender, who spend a lot of time together and look the same, so it’s often difficult for family members and friends to differentiate them — confidently using their names when talking with them, and getting to know each of them individually — even though they want to…

Enter kin2kin! Here, within a totally safe and private platform, we can quickly broadcast individual photos of each child to the family and “as-good-as family” friends. The photos are saved in the individual girl’s profile page, building a portfolio for grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins and godparents to watch, spotting key differences and following their different achievements…

Because Nick and I control who sees our household in kin2kin, the stuff we post in here is completely different to what goes on Facebook — less curated and more personal, day to day events. This allows the people most important to us, to get to know the girls better, even though we live in different towns (or just don’t see each other often!)

Now the girls are a little older they love switching to their account on my phone, checking out who has loved their photo or commented! The boost they get from these specific interactions is visible, and means that it’s definitely worth our while to keep posting…

kin2kin’s development team would love feedback from other parents of multiples! Click here to download the app, have a play and get in touch to let us know what you think.
