In November, we announced that we are moving Kin off the Ethereum blockchain and going all in on the Kin Blockchain. This includes the creation of a new Kin coin that is native to the Kin Blockchain. Migrating all Kin to the Kin Blockchain allows us to eliminate the complexities of having two Kin tokens, while achieving the scale, speed, and flexibility required to become the most used cryptocurrency in the world.

Over the past few months, we’ve strengthened our infrastructure to prepare for this migration, moved existing apps onto the Kin Blockchain, and worked with exchanges, wallets and swap services to prepare for a smooth migration. Today, we’re inviting all Kin holders to migrate their ERC-20 Kin to the new native Kin coin. We will be providing support for the migration over the course of three months and we encourage you to migrate your ERC-20 Kin tokens by June 12th. If you have earned your Kin in a Kin Ecosystem app, it will be swapped to the new Kin coin automatically once the respective app migrates and there will be no action required from you.

Migrating your ERC-20 Kin

There are two ways for ERC-20 holders to migrate their Kin: through an exchange or a swap service.

Option 1: Migrate via a swap service

CoinSwitch & Changelly are swap services that act as intermediaries between users and exchanges. Swap services will perform a one-to-one swap for your ERC-20 tokens and the native Kin coin with no additional fees. These services will complete the swap in less than 30 minutes. Both CoinSwitch & Changelly will support the migration to the native Kin coin until June 12th. CoinSwitch will be starting support today while Changelly will begin at a later date.

Should you choose to migrate via a swap service, choose between CoinSwitch or Changelly, and follow the steps outlined in our migration documentation.

Option 2: Migrate via an exchange

Starting today, the following exchanges will begin supporting the Kin migration; LAToken, Bitforex, HitBTC, CoinTiger & Lykke. Unlike swap services, exchanges will not support the migration for the entire migration period. Instead, each of these exchanges will provide a 1–2 week window for ERC20 Kin token deposits, beginning March 12th and ending March 19th or 26th at 12:00am EST (refer to the website for exact dates). At the end of this deposit window, the exchange will swap your ERC20 Kin tokens for the new Kin Coin within 48 hours. Holders will be notified that they have the option to withdraw their new native Kin coins within 48 hours after the deposit window closes. Over the coming weeks, more exchanges will become active, providing additional opportunities to swap your ERC-20 tokens for native Kin coins.

Should you choose to migrate via an exchange, select the exchange you would like to use, and follow the steps outlined in our migration documentation.

Note: once you deposit your ERC20 Kin onto an exchange, withdrawals will be locked until after the deposit window has ended and the exchange has performed the swap.

Storing your Kin

Swap services will require a valid wallet address to perform the swap. We recommend keeping your Kin coins secure during and after the migration by storing them in one of the following Kin-compatible wallets:
