When we initially introduced the KRE to the world, our goal was to get the wheel rolling. We wanted to reward as many developers as fast as possible. Now that dozens of developers are receiving KRE payouts on a weekly basis, it is time to take it to the next level.

Based on various feedback and findings we got from community members and developers in the past few months, we are updating the core principles of the KRE. Our goal is to make it fairer for both users and developers.

Guidelines and their key concepts

There are 2 concepts at the core of these guidelines:

  1. The user has control over the initiation of a transaction
  2. The user is aware that a transaction is happening

At the end of the day, we want to make sure users are protected, in control, and feel safe to explore Kin experiences. Following these guidelines will help maintain consistency in Kin experiences across different apps. This means experiences will be more user-friendly and will spark more engagement.

We know it takes time to make changes to apps. In order to give developers enough time to make the needed adjustments, these guidelines will come into effect on August 25th. New apps going live after this date will be expected to meet these guidelines when they go live.

If you’re thinking of building a new Kin experience and are not sure it meets the guidelines, you are more than welcome to contact us at validkre@kin.org with any questions or clarifications needed.
