Kin Developer Program Changes — We Heard Your Feedback!

First, THANK YOU to all developers in the program for all the hard work you’ve put into your apps. Together, we are on the bleeding edge of uncovering the value of cryptocurrency in consumer apps. As such, we anticipated that this process would be challenging, and that we’d learn much along the way.

At Kin, we are dedicated to helping you be successful. That means listening to your feedback and being flexible enough to change with evolving needs.

Last week, we sent a questionnaire to all participants in the Kin Developer Program, asking you to share your experience thus far. We’re pleased with the response and progress. Developers in the program have embraced the challenge, and are currently developing apps we’re excited about.

We also received detailed constructive feedback as well. Due to this feedback, we have decided to make some important changes to the structure of the program.

Changes to the structure of the Kin Developer Program:

• More Time: Demo day will be moved from Oct. 2 to Oct. 15 to allow developers more time to build their app. All participants in the program will present on the new date.
• Milestones: The program no longer relies on rigid dates following the first milestone. Developers who reach 10,000 then 50,000 monthly active wallets (MAW) for at least two months within 12 months of demo day will receive the associated award, where “MAW” means the number of active users who spent Kin at least once during said month.

— 10,000 MAW = US$20,000 & 100 Million Kin

— 50,000 MAW = US$25,000 & 250 Million Kin

• Backup and Restore: This is one of the most requested features, the lack of which is considered a problem by many developers in the program. We are committed to providing a backup and restore solution before the end of the year.

This is our first Developer Program and we’re committed to iterating on the program and doing our best to help participants succeed. We also understand that this is an iterative process. The experiences that go live are a first step and will continue to evolve. Not all apps will go live on demo day, and those that do may be in “beta” or “v1” status. This is common and to be expected in the product development cycle.

We deeply appreciate your flexibility and we understand how hard it is to build in a world where there’s no template for success. We are proud of all the developers in the program who are leading the charge and defining what it means to successfully integrate a cryptocurrency into consumer apps.
