A bit about MadLipz

MadLipz is a top-tier comic relief app that allows millions of people around the globe to create instant voiceover and subtitled parodies they can share and enjoy. It connects users across many countries to create and consume content in more than 85 languages. MadLipz has enjoyed traction of millions of monthly active users and more than 35 million downloads across 120 countries.

You’re funnier than you think!

MadLipz is built to empower and bring a smile to their continuously growing community of users who create, share, like, comment on, interact with and browse user generated content. These hilarious video creations are called “Lipz”. Users can also follow friends and follow particularly hilarious influencers.

Creating together: the MadLipz workshop

Last month we spent three days with the MadLipz team to ideate and explore opportunity spaces for Kin within their app. We reviewed user flows, created personas, and kept the end-user at the center in order to design for their engagement and needs. In between sessions, we watched hilarious ‘Lipz’, and we even created our own.

Storyboarding the experiences

Being a Kin design partner means you are joining our team (and we prefer to say ‘our family’). Building a meaningful Kin experience requires a commitment of both teams to bring the best expertise, creative powers, and dedication to the project. MadLipz knows everything about their users, about their journey — their wins and struggles. Kin brings the know-how of creating peer-to-peer experiences that enrich and celebrate the app’s content and usage.

Kin experiences in MadLipz

Once Kin is fully integrated, users will be able to earn Kin when they complete their profile, sub or dub their first video, and create a highlight reel. Users will also be able to receive Kin gifts from the community, and they could spend Kin by gifting their favorite creators.

Kin and MadLipz share mutual goals and work together to reward content creators and empower users, while driving engagement and retention. The teams also explored fun ways to convert passive users to creators.

The road to release

Both teams are working very closely, continuing development on Android and iOS integrations. We will rollout Kin experiences in the new year. We will continue working together on expanding experiences and adding features, while letting the MadLipz user experience and needs guide the way forward.
