Books
Books I read since April 2024:
- Children of Dune by Frank Herbert — on the concept of “ghafla” (things get really freaking weird in this part of the series)
- Убивче зілля. Історії (не)вигаданих отрут by Володимир Саркісян
- Alfons Mucha by Renate Ulmer
- The Forsyte Saga by John Galsworthy: Man of Property (sorry, but I’m rooting for Forsytes; the lady and her lover are really mean)
- Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami (it’s a great book)
- Amnesia by José Luis Ocasar Ariza (just Spanish practice)
- The Swerve: How the World Became Modern by Stephen Greenblatt (not that good as a non-fiction, great potential of a fiction read)
- The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell — my favorite scene, character meeting a tiger (overall average read)
- Circe by Madeline Miller — favorite quotes here (good!)
- How To Read Water by Tristan Gooley
- Bog Bodies Uncovered by Miranda Aldhouse-Green
- The Accursed Kings by Maurice Druon: The Iron King (a crazy good series)
- Will My Cat Eat My Eyeballs? by Caitlin Doughty (no it will not + and it’s not that good of a book)
- The Accursed Kings by Maurice Druon: The Strangled Queen (still going on great)
- The French Lieutenant’s Woman by John Fowles (probably one of my top 3 favorites now, and I thought it’s gonna be “just” a romance novel!)
- The Accursed Kings by Maurice Druon: The Poisoned Crown (as good as the previous ones)
- Пелагия и Белый Бульдог by Борис Акунин (boring)
- The Accursed Kings by Maurice Druon: The Royal Succession (fire)
- God-Emperor of Dune by Frank Herbert (Frank cannot write women)
- The Happiness of Women by Emile Zola (kinda sexist but cute)
- Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert (OMG)
- Dracula by Bram Stoker (the best audiobook)
- Cousin Phillis by Elizabeth Gaskell (unexpectedly modern and good)
- Seneca: A Life by Emily Wilson (a great read!)
- Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King (he’s such a bad writer I don’t know why I keep doing this to myself)
- How to build a dinosaur by J. Horner (OK)
Books I read in 2025:
- The Idiot by F. Dostoevsky (I survived (barely))
- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin (the ending is too boring, other than that I’m a total simp for Mr. Darcy)
- Повія by Панас Мирний (Ukrainian literature is so depressing)
- Dragonsdawn by A. McCaffrey (the book is awful, however, the series is golden)
- Great Gatsby by F. S. Fitzgerald (cried my eyes out, also the most beautiful English in the history of humanity)
- Swann’s Way by M. Proust (the most beautiful book in all of human existence)
In progress:
- The Romanovs by S. Montefiore (a bloody masterpiece, also fUcK the tsars)
- Total Cat Mojo by J. Galaxy (for now quite boring)
