Outsystems UI 2.8.0

Following the updates that OutSystems has already accustomed us to, the most recent brings an improvement in terms of the Outsystems UI framework. In addition to offering new APIs, which allow us to customize existing components, new versions of some of these same components were made available. This offer of new APIs is being introduced gradually over different future versions of the framework, so that the previous versions of the components, now considered DEPRECATED, can be adapted to the new vision.

KinetIT’s Digital Experience team believes that this is a great improvement, since some of the new parameters, now introduced in the components, were created by us through direct customization of the code, or through the aggregation of elements that exist on those components.

As far as the organization of the component script is concerned, we believe that these progressive improvements provide greater simplicity and, therefore, an evolution that we believe to be in the right direction.

On the other hand, this does not allow us complete freedom in customizing features, where it is extremely necessary. Even though with the new signatures and parameterizations, we are already able to adapt components to a multitude of new scenarios, in the context of complex developments, customization is necessary.

We also consider that providing the source code, both TypeScript, and SCSS, through a public repository, would be a huge help, so that development teams can benefit from the good architecture defined by Outsystems UI, evolving from this context.

We provide below the links to components that already have a new version, as a result of this new update by OutSystems, as well as the respective tutorial link for their migration.
