The next step for my future…
My name is Jorge Rodrigues, I have twenty three years old and I have a degree in web computing from the University of Beira Interior. When I finished high school, one of the biggest challenges of my life started. The University contest, it was undoubtedly one of the most difficult times I have had so far. I was really confused which college to enter.
I practiced cycling and always had a great connection with sport so, initially, I chose to enter Sport Sciences to learn and to be able to teach other people to practice sport in the best way, to get better results, both competitively and well being physical.
After entering the university I realized that it was not what I had been expected and I felt that it was not what I wanted for my future and I saw myself very unmotivated with the course. In the same year (three weeks later), I decided to take a risk and join web computing. I confess that at first it was difficult to adapt, because I was never a person who has been in front of a computer for a long time. Throughout my degree I started to get a taste for computing and to develop very interesting projects.
Also, during the degree was taught a course in which every week we had different speakers, whose were people who were already in the labor market and presented the tools with which they worked. The one I liked the most was a speaker who worked at Outsystems in Proença a Nova, who introduced us to his low-code development platform and I was surprised by the speed and efficiency of the platform development. As I was impressed by the Outsystems development platform.
I chose to enter the job market before completing my degree and I started looking for jobs and companies working with this tool, but soon I realized that experience was needed. Then I decided to apply to the KinetIT academy. After the application and recruitment processes I was selected to start the academy on May 12, 2019. On that day started first big step for my professional career. In the presentation of the KinetIT academy I realized that the contents were all very well organized and the company cares a lot about its employees, throughout the training I always felt a great support from all the employees of the company, because whenever doubts arose there were always more than one person concerned with clarifying it. Time goes by very quickly and the three months of training passed. After this training I was allocated to the company’s internal projects with more senior people whenever impediments arose they were unlocked.
It had been six months now and not only I have gained professional skills but also bonds of friendship for life, and KinetIT is very concerned about the well-being of its employees and there are some events to live together all employees that are very pleasant. I was allocated in a very interesting project that is still under development. I am part of a spectacular team where I have learned a lot from all my colleagues. Today I can say that I made a great choice by joining the KinetIT team, I feel that it involves a lot at the professional and personal levels.
