New Player Improvements

We’re streamlining the new player process so they don’t need to learn so many abilities at the start, and can unlock a 30-card starter deck after only 11 tutorials getting them into the action faster.

For a new player, this means:
- They can start playing the campaign and PvP after doing less than 10 minutes of tutorials.
- As the starter deck is made up of mostly common cards this is now made up of unbound cards.
- As the deck is unbound new users can try upgrading/trading cards immediately.

In order to instigate these changes we’re also having to tweak PvP so it still makes sense.

PvP will now be pushed to the forefront of Kingdom Karnage

There are now 9 different PvP leagues which will affect the gameplay of Kingdom Karnage in 3 main ways:

  • PvP matchmaking: Initially, the game will attempt to match you with someone in your league. If no one in your league is available, you can be matched with someone close in your deck score from another league (within 50 points in lower leagues, 100 points in higher ones).
  • Loot draws: To introduce abilities to new players slowly, and allow them to focus on leveling up some early characters, your possible loots are now dictated by your league. In League1 only 10 Commons and 1 Uncommon will be available, this will grow by a few cards every time you level up (See table later in this article).
  • Speed PvP: From league 6 onwards, ranked PvP will be “Speed PvP”. This mode requires you to take their turns quickly or receive damage to your hero character:

Will card packs be affected by this change?

Yes and no …

  • Card packs given out as part of promotions and competitions ARE affected and cards within them are dictated by your league at the time you received the card pack.
  • As purchased items should give equal value to all players, card packs purchased from the Kingdom Karnage shop ARE NOT affected and still be able to drop the full range of cards for the rarities in the card pack.

Moving between leagues

Your league is dictated by the number of PvP points you currently have. As you gain/lose PvP points you can move up or down a league accordingly:

Your base PvP points per battle are affected by your deck power, rating, remaining hero health, and your current win streak. The highest your base points can be from a single battle is 100 points, but that can be increased by our new wait system, as well as occasionally by events like our PvP weekend event that award double points.

We have now added a PvP queue wait system that after every minute of waiting, increases the amount of PvP points you can get from a win, or decreases the amount of PvP points you lose for a loss. These figures are increased/decreased by 10% every minute up to a maximum of 10 minutes where for a win you will receive double PvP points or if you lose, you will lose 0 points.

End of the month

At the end of the month, PvP scores will be reset with the following rules:

  • If your score is 500 or less, no points will be deducted.
  • If your score is between 501 and 2000, your score is reset to 500.
  • If your score is between 2000 and 8000, your score is reset to 2000.
  • All scores of 8001+ will have their points reduced by 75%.
