Back in 1980s a group of academicians of the Institute of Mathematics, Russian Academy of Science — S. Goncharov, Y. Ershov, and D. Sviridenko — formulated an original mathematical concept of Semantic Modelling that at that time had not analogues in the world.

Today the concept is an object for further development both in theory and in practice. It forms the basis for a new and unique approach to problems of artificial intelligence — a so called Explainable Artificial Intelligence. A very important outcome of studying explainable artificial intelligence is that the black box type deep machine learning can be replaced with an essentially different semantic approach to machine learning that not only formalizes the natural classification, but also the process of real perception described in the psychological literature.

This concept of semantic modelling developed by the Institute of Mathematics also allows to take a fresh look at a very important, perhaps even the central idea of the whole digital economy — the smart contract — expanding it to Semantic Smart Contract.
