Everyday Niceties, Taken for Granted

May you appreciate the little niceties in life.

Measuring the little ones on the wall

Exclaiming, my, how you’ve grown, how tall

Staying up with the little one who won’t sleep

The doe-eyed look with, Mommy, I love you, I’ll keep

Discussing the patterns in the lace curtains

Husband says it looks like an elk

I say, a tiger, for certain

Singing out of tune to The Hotel California by the Eagles

Making the dog howl like a beagle

Moments passed in comfortable silence

Hoping to pass on this inheritance with a bit of guidance
