A picture of a bus leaving to #Wanaparthy District in Telangana from Hyderabad MGBS bus station captures the mood as Telangana goes to Vote today !!

Rural voting percentage has always outnumbered urban and I believe it’s also because the governance, it’s grand schemes and various other things are felt directly by the rural population more. The rural citizens are in majority independent entrepreneurs from farmers toiling the soil to weavers who spend days weaving and many more. Majority of their lives are impacted significantly with the party coming to power, of course we do know the promises/manifestos are not kept well but that’s how it is.

In urban context it is mostly in majority we do jobs and it’s only the heads of these companies we work who would interact with the government at whatever level and hence we are indifferent to the whole election and government system. Even if you attend any of the speeches of leaders in cities we can’t connect to anything from urban context.

Community level awareness is slowly building as citizens come together and I believe as Hyderabadis and so called educated class we should evolve as the quality of life deteriorates in Hyderabad and demand for our rights for our future generations. It’s not only for us but also to the rural citizens who are looking upto us to make this democratic process function at its best.
