The vote for this edition of G2G went to learning 12 crafts in 12 weeks. For those looking at immediate ROI, this just doesn’t make sense — what does learning art, origami, etc have to do with becoming a successful company? We also added the caveat that we would not extrapolate the art to typical learning objectives like creative / lateral thinking, activating the left/ right brain — the focus was only on enjoying playing around with a new skill.

To kick things off we had Jonathan, a professional illustrator introduce us to the world of cartooning. He showed us how basic shapes can be used to create images. What started as 3 simple shapes (shown above) turned into something memorable.

A lot of us who had resigned to the fact that we just can’t draw were excited to see how with the help of simple shapes (triangles, semi circles) we were able to create “art”! The end result was actually something we could be proud of and we were able to do it in under 30 mins! The sense of accomplishment and excitement was clearly visible on everyone.

This was an eye opener for a lot of us — how many other skills / fields are we 30 mins away from exploring?
