A tale from our little restaurant; pre covid.

Just right succulent ripe bananas,
not too soft now; no, textures all wrong,
under-ripe too hard and dry.
Bananas to make your mouth water
sliced just right through the middle placed on a dish
wide enough for a healthy dollop of ice cream to sit on top!

Placed in front of our thrilled guests always brings
beaming smiles in flavoursome anticipation.
One each is better you romantic fools;
We promise, you will soon regret sharing!

Then comes the ladle with rum on fire!
Procuring a mixture of weary delight on sight
as rum is poured over the ice cream,
phone cameras out while blue flames make a pretty sight
dripping down onto the banana, why so surprised?
You did order banana flambe.

I continually see happiness spread wide across the faces of diners
who ordered this heavenly dessert.

Bet they had wished they’d ordered two. Lessons learned young lovers!

Dedicated in alphabetic order to, Paroma Sen & Suzanne V. Tanner.
