So I admit to having been somewhat distracted of late. I would be lying if I said my absence was entirely due to a new toy. It isn’t, but those OTHER reasons will have to wait for their own post. This story is about my breadbot.

I love bread, you see. Good bread with a crusty outside and a firm inside that just cries out for good cheese and red wine. One might consider wine and cheese to be snobby except I really do love the pairing.

A source of good bread is as important as one for wine or cheese for me, maybe better since wine and cheese are easier to find. We had a bakery not far from our home but they closed their doors, and that, my darlings, was a very sad day.

Now bakeries are just not a thing anymore. A few grocery stores are trying to carry better breads, I mean, not the sliced loaf kind. Grocery store bakeries seem to be very good at kids’ birthday cakes and donuts, but as for the rest — meh.

These breads are in all different shapes and colors, and some look pretty on the shelves. But know what? They all taste the same. Unfortunate but true.

I started making my own bread through desperation and despair. I needed my good bread — I couldn’t…
