Salisbury steak is a comfort food that I love to make and love to eat! This always gets me into Sunday dinner vibes. It’s easy to make and quick to prepare. Who says Sunday dinners have to take all day to prepare? Not me!

Normally with Salisbury steak comes mashed potatoes. Well, I made those too. However, I took the time to try to prepare some sweet rolls to get an extra fill up on a beautiful Sunday night.

In this recipe, you will get the recipe for the Salisbury steak and the sweet rolls. Double the deliciousness in one place!

Salisbury Steak Ingredients:

1 1/2 pound ground beef

1/2 bread crumbs

1 large egg

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/8 teaspoon pepper

Gravy:

1/4 cup butter

1/4 cup flour

2 cups beef broth

1 teaspoon beef base

1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions:

  1. Prepare gravy: melt butter in a deep pan on medium-high heat. Once butter is melted add flour. Cook stirring constantly until desired deep brown.
  2. Whisk in broth and let simmer, stirring often, for about 3 minutes. Reduce heat to medium-low heat and cook until thickened.
  3. Stir in base and pepper until combined. Add salt to taste.
  4. Reduce heat to low while you prepare the Salisbury steak patties. Stir occasionally
  5. Prepare Salisbury steak patties: combine all ingredients together and mix until incorporated. Form into an oval shape.
  6. Add 1 teaspoon of oil to a separate pan. Fry patties on both sides until brown.
  7. Add cooked patties to gravy. Increase heat to medium-low and cook until the inside of the patties has reached the desired temperature and doneness.

Sweet Roll Ingredients:

2 1/4 to 2 1/2 cup flour

2 1/4 teaspoon instant yeast

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup milk

1/4 cup water

2 tablespoons butter

1/4 cup honey

Topping:

1/4 cup butter

1 1/2 tablespoons honey

Directions:

  1. Mix 1 cup of flour with yeast and salt. In a separate bowl combine milk, water, butter, and honey. Microwave in 30-second increments until warm.
  2. Add wet ingredients to flour mixture. Add remaining flour 1/4 cup at a time until a dough ball forms. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Cover dough ball with a warm towel and let rest 10 minutes.
  4. Cut into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into smaller balls. Place in a greased pan and cover rolls with a warm towel in a warm place. Let rolls rise until doubled in sizes for about 30 minutes.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 425 degrees for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
