Kitsumon Breeding Update
Welcome Kitsu Family! We know you’ve all been eagerly awaiting our big Breeding release, along with the Big Bang Hatching event. There hasn’t been much news from our side about breeding yet, so this article is here to go in-depth on all the awesome stuff we have prepared for you!
The Mechanics of Breeding
We can say proudly that Kitsumon’s breeding system is something no other project has done before. Utilizing an industry-first 3D rendering pipeline, Kitsu parents will pass on their actual Genetics to their offspring, creating a combination of bodyparts from both parents that are represented in the Hybrid. Each Kitsu consists of a variety of bodyparts.
When Kitsus breed, 2 genes are passed on from each parent for each bodypart. For every bodypart, like the legs, the chest, or the head for example, there is a pool of 4 genes that get passed on to the offspring. One gene will be visible in the actual bodypart the offspring inherits, and the other three will be hidden and become relevant once the offspring itself begins breeding with other Kitsus.
The Primary (visible) gene has a 40% chance to be passed on, while each of the three Hidden genes has a 20% chance to be passed on. It works like this independently for every single bodypart the Kitsu has, so it can get quite complex! We’re using Chainlink Verifiable Random Function (VRF) to randomly determine which gene gets passed on according to its probabilities.
But Kitsu bodyparts have far more importance than just the cosmetic aspect! A Kitsu’s abilities are directly tied to its bodyparts, so if you want your hybrid to inherit Golderado’s Aztec Shield ability for example, then the parent will need to pass on the Golderado Tail to the offspring, because Golderado’s Tail contains this ability inside of itself.
Even with just 2 Kitsus, the possibilities are nearly endless — now just imagine what amazing things can be created with the 21 Kitsus we already have on our marketplace! The options will just get better and better, as our lineup of Kitsus is always growing. Keep your eyes peeled for news on Kitsu #22 😉
Breeding UI Progress
The Kitsumon Breeding UI is largely done and ready, together with a browsable inventory that shows an overview of all your owned Kitsu!
A one-time consumable Infinity Potion NFT will be required to breed two Kitsus together. We will be holding a Potion Sale in the future where you can get yourself lots of potions — the sale will be done in KMC!
These UI elements will be improved on even further over the coming weeks (development in progress), so look forward to more updates and news on our socials.
Another thing we’re very excited to share with all of you is the KitsuDex we’ve been developing. It shows detailed information on all the Kitsus you own and will be featured on our updated website!
On the KitsuDex page you can view your Kitsu’s abilities, stats, as well as some breeding-related info like the breeding cooldown timer.
The KitsuDex section will only show your hatched Kitsus, while the “My NFT’s” section will show every NFT you own, including eggs and potions.
Both sections will feature various filters for easy sorting and viewing.
Kitsu 3D Models
Some of you may have noticed that the above images use 2D images instead of the 3D models we’ve been showing off on social media so far. This is because our design partner ADIA is currently hard at work producing awesome idle animations for every Kitsu, to really bring them to life!
The KitsuDex and breeding UI will utilize the 3D models with their idle animations in the final release, including a state of the art 3D viewer. This feature will let you view the 3D model not only on the KitsuDex, but on our Marketplace and on OpenSea as well, letting you freely rotate the model and view all of its details.
We have also gotten some of the latest finished models ready that you can check out below!
We’re striving for perfection with these models, and we want to deliver you only the best! All of these models will feature a variety of randomized colors and different textures to make for a truly massive amount of combinations. As mentioned earlier, the 3D models will have idle animations on the KitsuDex and Marketplace, so you can see your Kitsu truly being alive in the digital Metaverse.
All these goodies take a massive amount of work for ADIA to complete & for our dev team to build and test, which is why it will still take some time until we can launch the breeding mainnet. Until then, we are working on getting a Testnet version up and running for you as soon as possible, so you can already experiment around with the breeding mechanics before the final product is released! More info will be shared on our socials soon.
We hope you liked this news-update. There are still some more cool updates we didn’t share in this article, mainly about our Infinity Potions and some further artwork progress, as well as Kitsus in Alternate Reality!
