Catalysis Paralysis

Author’s Note: This is revised and republished with my permission from my blog at

Twinkling eyes and roaring laugh
Wheezing through life on a breath and a prayer
Calloused hands firm and gentle in shaping souls
A catalyst moves in present tense, changing and yet unchanged
Our love intertwined in my every word and deed
Bleak futures in your absence
Can change remain when the catalyst waivers
Needing you never escapes my heart
Deep, paralyzing fear of your absence
Stops the very breath of life in my nostrils

I need you.
Don’t go.
