Lost in/with/without Words

It’s been a long, hard, cold night

I’m lonely without my constant chattering friends

Words and their companionship have nearly departed

Wordless poets are silent radios

Synapses in my brain misfire

Nothing spews that anyone could read

White space without a prompt is scary

The blank page without an assignment is deafening

I wish the muse would pick a frequency

I would tune in faithfully

So the tune of beautiful language could float unfettered
