As church walls crumbled | her heart’s resounding cry of “no” | exploded from feeble lips | into empty silence.
Invisible, ignored | unheard, unshared | ignobly fought in vain | Reeling, she became as they painted her — | prideful rebel refusing God’s counsel.
Only she truly knew it | for what it was — | control by idols, man-made gods | as tin-plated dictators | with delusions | of grandiose and glorious godhood.
