Based loosely on Nehemiah 1:5–6 (NKJV), 9–11a

Lord God of heaven, O great and awesome God, we know You keep Your covenant and mercy with those who love You and follow Your teachings.

Hear us, see us. Hear Your people who teach, serving You and others, especially the young. Hear our prayer that we pray continually for America and her teachers and students. We Your servants confess that America has sinned against you. We have sinned, those who taught us to teach have sinned, and our students have sinned. All educational professionals have sinned against You.

Help us return to You, return to honoring and following Your commandments. You promise if we do this you will gather us again, binding us in love, in the place You’ve chosen as our place to teach. You will dwell in the hearts of us as we call ourselves by Your Name.

As teachers, we serve You and we serve the students You give us, whether they honor You or not. You have offered redemption to us by Your great power and Your strong hand.

O Lord, hear the cries of we who serve You by teaching. Let Your ear hear the prayers of us who fear Your Name. Prosper us this day, and give us mercy and grace in the sight of government officials at all levels, administrators, parents, and our co-workers.
