The sun provides us with a virtually unlimited supply of energy, but people still use the expensive and cumbersome method of digging up fossil fuels to generate electricity, despite recent breakthroughs in solar energy generation, making it immensely more efficient. The world needs to embrace solar energy, and here’s 5 reasons why:

1 — Environmentally Friendly:

Let’s start with the obvious. Burning fossil fuels releases huge amounts of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases that trap heat in the atmosphere and cause global average temperatures to increase, triggering climate change.

The devastating effects of climate change are becoming more evident with every passing year: more frequent hurricanes, unseasonal heat waves that trigger wildfires, cold blasts that bring life to a standstill almost every winter, destructive typhoons that claim thousands of lives in developing nations… the list goes on.

Solar energy generation through the use of photovoltaic panels does away with the side effects of generating electricity by burning fossil fuels. Solar energy is cheap, efficient, clean and environmentally friendly. That is why more governments and energy companies around the world are boosting their investments in renewable energy. Bloomberg’s forecast described the outlook of power industry as both sunny and windy, since 72% of the US$10.2 trillion spent on new power generation worldwide up until 2040 will be invested in new wind and solar photovoltaic plants. It’s the way of the future — which brings us to our second point.

2 — Innovative and Cheap:

The electricity that powers our cutting-edge high-tech gadgets, from smartphones and tablets to notebooks and smart speakers, comes from power plants and grids constructed based on 19th century technology.

One major downside of this anachronism is the huge costs attached to building and maintaining power plants and power grids. It costs billions of US dollars to construct a single power plant and it takes more money to connect it to the grid, both of which have high maintenance costs spanning many years.

Solar power offers a cheap and innovative solution to this problem. Using advanced smart grid technologies will revitalize the aging grid system and bring cost competitiveness to the energy market.

3 — Stable and Safe Grid:

The current use of archaic and massive grid systems means that there will be inevitable blackouts, which are extremely difficult and expensive to repair. That is not counting the economic losses incurred due to businesses halting their operations during power outages, and the inconveniences and risks brought by the disruption of critical services such as healthcare and law enforcement.

A decentralized solar energy network has none of the burdens of that overwhelm conventional grid systems. In a decentralized solar energy grid, there are no single points of failure that could bring down the entire network, therefore the threat of a blackout is eliminated. It means uninterrupted, reliable and clean energy for businesses, households and social services, resulting in greater economic and social returns for all.

4 — Empower Everyone:

A complicated, prohibitively expensive and high-maintenance power generation method results in a limited number of large corporations having monopoly over the electricity market.

These utility companies control the energy sources and have the final say on electricity prices. The system is closed and the electricity users are reduced to passive consumers.

A decentralized solar energy network will provide an open shared platform for many people, giving them the freedom to choose among suppliers that best suit their needs.

5 — High Efficiency

A great deal of electricity is lost during transmission and distribution in traditional centralized energy generation systems. About 5% of the electricity generated by a power plant is lost, increasing the costs for end users.

In a decentralized solar energy network, electricity is produced on location and does not need to be transmitted along an energy grid, eliminating transmission and distribution losses.

In summary, solar energy is a clean, efficient, cheap and innovative solution to the problems caused by the cumbersome methods of producing electricity using the old ways. It empowers people and ends the monopoly of utility companies. Reliable, on location energy generation means that blackouts become a thing of the past and consumers stop paying for electricity lost in transmission.

KiWi New Energy aims to revolutionize the way people invest in green energy by making solar investment easy for everyone. Unlike conventional solar energy companies, who look for large investors, we crowdsource solar projects. The income of investors will be distributed through our brand new cryptocurrency, the KIWI Token; this helps us cross borders, as well as help participants avoid lengthy bureaucracy. Our highly lucrative solar projects are ideal for investors who want to make the world a cleaner and better place.
