Beat the BKK heat — Hello, Klaytn!
Hi there all,
It’s our second travelogue. Featuring Bangkok this time. And as we always do, before we dive into our story, a special shout-out to those who were with us at Hello, Klaytn in BKK back on November 27th. Thank you all for your great support.
As you all know, Hello, Klaytn in BKK followed our very first meetup Hello, Klaytn SF, which took place in San Francisco, California during the SF Blockchain Week back in October (remember our story?). We wanted to continue our Valley- and Bay-community building efforts in Asia, and Bangkok, as the new emerging blockchain hub in Southeast Asia, was the perfect location. The blockchain market in Bangkok is heating up very fast, thanks to the supportive Thai government, dynamic startups, and critical companies. We were in Bangkok just in time for Beyond Blocks Summit Bangkok, as well as other numerous meetups featuring great blockchain projects including our very own Hello, Klaytn in BKK.
If our Hello, Klaytn in SF was more techy, centering towards developers and service providers, Hello, Klaytn in BKK was more of a blockchain community edition. In addition to local developers and service providers, we also invited blockchain-specialized venture capital firms, successful local blockchain projects, businesses, and their teams.
Our Andrew, the Director of Corporate Development, first spoke on Klaytn’s strategic direction from both business and technical perspectives. Recognizing the key challenge in blockchain industry as the mass adoption, Andrew discussed the ways in which Klaytn can drive mainstream adoption of blockchain technology. Our senior researcher Eric then detailed Klaytn’s private testnet, Aspen by introducing Aspen’s technical strengths. Aspen is currently used exclusively by Klaytn’s initial service partners, consisting of leading enterprises in various industry domains. For more information on Klaytn’s initial service partners, click here.
The highlight of the meetup was the panel discussion with local experts including Nicole Nguyen, Head of Asia Pacific at Infinity Blockchain Venture, Akaradet Diawpanich, Chief Strategy Officer at Bitcoin Addict, Sanjay Popli, Business Development Lead at ICORA, and our very own Eric. Under the topic of “The Blockchain Future in Thailand,” the panelists discussed the overall industry mood in Thailand, by sharing their insights on what the industry is currently faced with, how the government regulations and policies are progressing, what the local development environment is like, and also how local communities can work together to further strengthen the industry. And of course, our experts also discussed the ways in which Klaytn can expand the reach of blockchain and increase its awareness in Bangkok market.
We will run our Hello, Klaytn series around the globe and continue to discover our partners, so if you missed us in SF or BKK, we will definitely see you somewhere else in the near future. You never know — the third Hello, Klaytn might be taking place at your city, so make sure to stick around! And, as always, our Medium page will be the very first one to announce our biggest stories.
And last but not least, here’s a video footage capturing Hello, Klaytn in BKK.
