We Just Bought Ourselves an Instant Pot

Like a real one this time, not the crappy imitation pot we had before

Our old pressure cooker just kind of sucked but what do you expect with $50?

Buying a discount pressure cooker isn’t always a great idea. Our old Farberware Pressure Cooker was $50 from Walmart on sale. That pressure cooker didn’t even last us an entire year. It honestly just kind of sucked. I don’t know how else to describe it. One day we were in the middle of making Mike’s famous instant pot pasta sauce and the thing just cut out. Like completely.

Luckily, our food was nearly done and we didn’t worry about it cutting out in the time it did. We just wanted to have a cooker that worked. He opened it up, just like he opens up every other gadget he thinks he can try to fix. I honestly just wanted to throw the piece of crap away at that point.

He honestly just wanted an excuse to exercise his technical skills, I’m sure

I eventually convinced him after hours of him playing on it with his tools and soldering iron to get it to work again. He actually did get it to work for a minute, then that thing just completely died. I threw that crap away and said I could just buy a new one. That was nearly five months ago.

We’ve been wanting a new one since. It’s ideal for our tiny home for space and convenience to have a pressure cooker in here. The new one we just bought we didn’t want to cheap out on. We even paid for the warranty, $15 for 3 years. The Instant Pot we got was on sale for $150. It’s the Pro Plus model with WiFi.

Top-of-the-Line cooking investment

It’s the top-of-the-line model. It can make yogurt, it has a slow cooker, pressure cooker, rice cooker, steamer, saute pan, warmer, canning pot, sous vide, and a Nutri Boost. Are you kidding me?

It’s six quarts and it says that it’s a 10 in 1. I imagine the 10 in 1 is all of the features it just mentioned. Also, because of the fact that it’s WiFi-enabled, it will allow us to download an app to access the features on the device. This is some futuristic, new-age way of cooking that I’m always down for.

It’ll make it easier for us to eat and cook and save us money

I’m beaming because it’s been difficult for us to cook and clean and we’ve had to spend a decent amount of money to go out and buy unhealthy snacks and eat less than ideal meals. With our new Instant Pot, we will have saved ourselves money in our food budget for the next 3 years to come.

The $150, if you think about it, is an investment in our nutritional future. I don’t want to keep eating gas station convenience meals and fast food when I could have deliciously cooked food out of a 10-in-1 cooker, Wi-Fi-enabled Instant Pot.

I don’t know why more people aren’t doing this, even those who aren’t living out of a tiny home. This saves so much money and will definitely pay for itself hundreds of times over. I love that we finally had the money and the opportunity to do this. There are going to be some exciting meals and recipes in our future. There might be even some that I’ll want to share with all of you.
