Finals are stressful, especially when it can severely impact your grade.

But no worries, since Klein ISD has given students the option of opting out of finals. Being exempt will excuse students from taking finals and give students the ability to have a “no grade” in its place, giving students the opportunity to not have their semester grade influenced. Although, students who are exempt from finals will also still have the option of taking them if they believe it will improve their grade.

So how can you be exempt from finals? Well for starters, you must not have been in ISS, OSS, DAEP (ANNEX) or JJAEP or have any financial holds (at the moment) against you.

For a full-year course you cannot have more than 6 absences for the entire school year, you must have passed the first semester with a conduct grade of ‘E’, ‘S’, or ’N’, and at least a grade of 80 this semester. If you check all of these boxes then you are eligible for final exam exemptions.

For a semester course, if you have than 3 absences, a conduct grade of ‘E’, ‘S’, or ’N’, and at least a grade of 80 then you may skip the exam period and receive a “no-grade” for your final(s). But if you have six or more absences, then you must be present during the exam period to take the test.
