As many know we had Hurricane Harvey which affected many people because of the constant flooding. Churches, schools, businesses were closed and homes were flooded albeit not everyone was affected.

Klein Cain is now housing Lemm Elementary due to the recent floods. This change has surely impacted the Lemm Elementary students. “It’s good and I like the big lunch room,” said Izzy Moreno, fifth grade Lemm Elementary student.

Floods have also impacted the way Lemm Elementary students travel to school, riding on buses instead, “I’m a little shy on the school bus, but school is fun,” said kindergarten Lemm Elementary student Anna Smith.

And while many were awestruck by this tragedy, the ones who weren’t came out and helped. “I helped out community members, watched Netflix, went outside, and ate a lot,”ninth grade Klein Cain student Andrea Corona said, “it was also kind of hard to remember my schedule but it’s better now that I have my routine again.” But ninth grade Klein Cain student Will Castronovo thought differently, “It was easy and felt like the first day of school.”

In the end, Hurricane Harvey united communities together. Lives were saved and communities helped pick up the debris and trash from the hurricane. Oh, and welcome back to school.
