Naming the Ibis

Last week, Cain students were able to vote to name Cain’s mascot (Ibis). Popular names among students being Harvey (named after the hurricane) and Jamal.

Many students have suggested names, “Ivy or Iris, I think Iris is the best one,” said sophomore Gizzelle Bolanos when asked about what she thought the mascot name should be, “it rhymes, Iris the Ibis, it just sounds nice.” Meanwhile, freshman Carlos Chavarria said, “I believe the mascot name should be Willis.”

“Choosing a mascot name establishes a figure to look at for Klein Cain” Gizzelle said.

So far, there have been mixed debates over what the mascot name should be, a few being Harvey or Jamal. “Jamal, Jamal’s definitely going to be chosen” said Carlos.

By the beginning of next year, students can expect Cain’s mascot name to be established but for now we’ll just have to wait.
