On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Chicago White Sox announced that outfielder Peyton Burdick was claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. Burdick will take the spot of former Knights reliever Matt Foster, who was placed on Chicago’s 60-Day Injured List.

Fans of the Charlotte Knights will remember Burdick from last season when he played for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins). Burdick had a strong offensive season last year and even mashed the ball against the Knights, specifically at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.

Appearing in 12 games at Truist Field last season as a member of the ‘Shrimp, Burdick hit an impressive seven home runs. He finished with the fourth-best mark of the season for home runs hit at Truist Field.

Only Nate Mondou (12 homers in 63 games), Lenyn Sosa (8 homers in 36 games) and Victor Reyes (8 in 66 games) hit more home runs at Truist Field last season.
