The 2023 Spring Training season is underway and baseball is now in full swing in both Arizona and Florida.

This past weekend, the Chicago White Sox returned to Camelback Ranch to open the spring season on Saturday, February 25.

Although the White Sox dropped Saturday’s game to the San Diego Padres, 6–2, two former Charlotte Knights went yard in the game.

Sluggers Gavin Sheets and Jake Burger, who have called Charlotte home for parts of the past two seasons, both hit solo home runs in Saturday’s spring opener.

The first Sox home run of the spring season came off the bat of Sheets, who launched his home run in the 2nd inning.

At 26 years old, Sheets will look to build off his 15-homer campaign from last year. The talented slugger has combined to hit 26 home runs over the past two seasons with the White Sox (178 games combined).

The Sox scored one more time on Saturday and did so thanks to the first Burger Bomb of the season…

In 51 games with the White Sox last season, Burger hit .250 (42-for-168) with eight home runs and 26 RBIs. Burger was selected by the White Sox in the first round of the 2017 MLB June Amateur Draft. He’s appeared in 66 games with the Sox over the past two seasons.

The Sox dropped both games over the weekend and will be back on the diamond on Monday against the Seattle Mariners.
