In 2016, Truist Field was the site of the Triple-A All-Star Game. One of the many future stars on hand for that special game was RHP Mike Clevinger, who was recently signed as a free agent by the Chicago White Sox. Clevinger, 31, signed a one-year, $12-million contract, which also includes a mutual option for the 2024 season.

As a member of the Cleveland organization, Clevinger spent the 2016 campaign dominating at Triple-A Columbus before earning a promotion to the majors. With the Clippers that year, he posted an 11–1 record with a 3.00 ERA in 17 games started (97 SO over 93.0 IP).

On July 13, 2016, the Charlotte Knights hosted the Triple-A All-Star Game at Truist Field and Clevinger represented the Clippers. He tossed a scoreless inning for the International League All-Star Team and struck-out two batters. Although he didn’t factor in the decision, the IL All-Stars were victorious, 4–2.
