Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson, who is currently on the team’s 10-day injured list with a sprained right ankle, will begin a Major League Baseball Rehab Assignment tonight at BB&T Ballpark. Anderson, 26, is batting .317 (86-for-271) with 39 runs scored, 14 doubles, 11 home runs, 37 RBIs, and 15 stolen bases over 70 games this season with the White Sox. He was placed on the team’s IL on June 28 (retroactive to June 26).

Originally drafted in the first round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft (17th overall pick), Anderson appeared in 55 games with the Charlotte Knights in 2016 and hit .304 (75-for-247) with 39 runs scored, 10 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 20 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases. He was promoted from Charlotte to Chicago on June 10, 2016. At the time of that promotion, Anderson was leading the International League in hits (75) and was second in runs scored (39).
