Throughout the 2017 season, the Charlotte Knights welcomed former Major League All-Stars, MVPs, World Series winners, and many other recognizable players and celebrities.

Over the course of the next couple of weeks, I’ll have a look back at some of the legends who spent time at BB&T Ballpark in 2017. It was a “who’s who” lineup this season.

On Wednesday, June 28th, the Knights welcomed three-time American League All-Star Bucky Dent to BB&T Ballpark. The 1978 World Series MVP was busy making his way around Charlotte on the day of his appearance.

I picked him up early that morning and took him over to WBTV, WBT, and WFNZ for interviews.

Here’s Bucky talking to WBTV weatherman, Al Conklin. Great interview!

Later in the day, Dent continued to honor the work of his late wife, Marianne, and made a special visit to the Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte. Marianne Dent was diagnosed with brain cancer in early 2014 and created “Embraced With Love”. In a little over a year, “Embraced With Love” has given out approximately 1,000 blankets to patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment. He spent a good part of the day handing out blankets to patients.

As the day continued, Dent made his way over to BB&T Ballpark to meet the media, players, coaching staff, and of course, the fans! He was so accommodating and spent a lot of time that day meeting and greeting people.

Looking back at this special appearance, it’s safe to say it was one of the best we have ever had at BB&T Ballpark.

On a personal note, I really enjoyed spending time with Bucky. Although I grew up a life-long Mets fan in New York, it was a lot of fun talking baseball with this Yankee legend. Perhaps one of my favorite parts of the day was introducing him to my dad. Thanks, Bucky!
