KNIGHT LIGHTS: The Charlotte Knights (39–64) will continue the six-game series against the Gwinnet Stripers (49–54) tonight and play game five of the series. First pitch is set for 7:04 p.m. from Truist Field — the home of the Knights since 2014. The Knights will once again play as the Caballeros de Charlotte in tonight’s game (1–0 this season as the Caballeros).

WINNING WAYS: The Knights enter tonight’s game five matchup against the Gwinnett Stripers having won five of the team’s last six games. With the doubleheader win last night, the Knights have won three-straight games, which is the longest streak of the season.

ABOUT LAST KNIGHT
: The Charlotte Knights walked-off with two thrilling come-from-behind wins on Friday night to sweep the Gwinnett Stripers in the team’s first Truist Field doubleheader of the season. The Knights walked-off with a 5–4 win in game one and walked-off with a 4–3 win in game two. Charlotte leads the series three games to one.

WALK-OFF WINS: In game one, it was OF Blake Rutherford who played the hero at the end. Rutherford singled home OF Adam Haseley in the seventh to lead the Knights to the first of two walk-off wins on Friday night. In game two, INF Zach Remillard played the hero as he singled home INF Jake Burger in the seventh to lead the Knights to the second walk-off win of the day.

DOUBLEHEADERS IN 2022: The Knights entered play in yesterday’s doubleheader 0–2 this season in such games. They lost both of their doubleheader games to the Gwinnet Stripers earlier this season. By winning both games last night, the Knights improved to 2–2 this season in doubleheader action.

ZACH ATTACK: INF Zach Remillard played a key role in last night’s wins. He also launched his sixth home run of the season last night and stole his team-high 15th base of the season. His 82 hits on the year is good for the third-best mark on the team this season.

TO-KNIGHT’S STARTING PITCHER: LHP Kyle Kubat (4–3, 5.10) will get the start tonight in game five of the series, his eighth start since Sunday, June 19 and ninth start overall this year. Tonight’s game will be his 28th appearance of the year with the Knights.

SOLID REHAB STINT: RHP Vince Velasquez, who is currently on the Chicago White Sox 15-day Injured List, began a major league rehab assignment with the Knights on Tuesday night at Truist Field. He pitched a scoreless, hitless inning that night. He fanned one batter and threw just seven pitches (five for strikes). He returned last night and pitched two scoreless innings in game one of the twin bill. Velasquez, 30, was signed by the White Sox as a free agent on March 14, 2022. This season with Chicago, the California native is 3–3 with a 5.21 ERA in 14 games (eight games started) over 46.2 innings pitched. He was placed on Chicago’s injured list with a right index finger blister on July 6.

SUNDAY’S STARTER: RHP Tobias Myers, who was acquired off waivers from the San Francisco Giants by the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday, August 2, will make his Knights debut on Sunday and get the start. Myers, 24, began the season with Triple-A Columbus and posted a 1–9 record with a 6.00 ERA in 16 games (15 starts) over 60.0 innings pitched. He was designated for assignment by Cleveland on July 2 and traded to San Francisco on July 7. In two games (one start) with Triple-A Sacramento, he went 0–0 with a 9.00 ERA (3.0 innings pitched). He was designated for assignment by San Francisco on July 31. Myers was originally drafted by the Orioles in the sixth round of the 2016 MLB Draft.
