Knights Score 12 in Friday’s Win

At any given point this season, the Charlotte offense could put up a ton of runs on the scoreboard. The team can hit the long ball well and the lineup consistently features some big boppers. The team put up a 12-spot on Friday night in a 12–2 win over the Gwinnett Stripers from Coolray Field.

The Knights have scored at least 10 runs in six games this season, with a season-high in runs of 14 on April 13 in an 18–14 loss to the Memphis Redbirds.

As a team, the Knights have scored 151 runs this season with 34 home runs in 28 games. Catcher Carlos Pérez is among the International League leaders in home runs this year. His seven dingers are tied for sixth in the league. He is also tied for fifth in the league in RBIs with 23 and seventh in total bases with 58.

On Friday, in the 12–2 win, the Knights tallied three home runs. Blake Rutherford gave the Knights a 7–0 lead with a grand slam. The home run was the third of the season for Rutherford.

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoán Moncada hit the first of Charlotte’s home runs on the evening. Moncada, who is currently on a major league rehab assignmennt, launched his second home run of his rehab stint in the top of the first inning. His solo blast gave the Knights an early 1–0 lead.

Seby Zavala added a solo home run in the seventh inning for Charlotte’s third home run of the evening on Friday.
