Nick Madrigal Promoted to Charlotte

On July 31, 2019 around 5:00 PM ET, second baseman Nick Madrigal was officially promoted to the Charlotte Knights from Double-A Birmingham.

Madrigal, who was selected in the first round (fourth overall) of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft by the Chicago White Sox, began the 2019 season with High-A Winston-Salem and hit .272 (52-for-191) with 20 runs scored, 10 doubles, two triples, two home runs, 27 RBIs, and 17 stolen bases. He was promoted to Double-A Birmingham on June 6, 2019 and hit .341 (56-for-164) with 30 runs scored, 11 doubles, two triples, one home run, 16 RBIs, and 14 stolen bases.

Madrigal, 22, entered the 2019 season ranked as the number four prospect in the Chicago White Sox system by Baseball America. The same publication also tabbed him as the Best Defensive Infielder in the White Sox system. He was a non-roster invitee to White Sox Spring Training earlier this year.
