Quietly, Yolbert Sánchez has been one of the most consistent hitters on the Charlotte Knights this season — and he’s getting on base, a lot.

Sánchez began the 2022 season with Double-A Birmingham and was hitting .353 (18-for-51) with seven runs scored, one double and six RBIs in 14 games with the Barons. He was off to a fast start to the 2022 season and the organization took notice.

The Cuban native was was promoted to Charlotte on April 26 and has been a solid part of the team’s lineup since that day.

Through 59 games with the Knights this season, Sánchez is hitting .280 (65-for-232) with 22 runs scored, nine doubles, one home run, 20 RBIs and three stolen bases.

Since June 22, the 25-year-old infielder has reached base in 16 straight games. It is currently the fourth-highest active mark in the International League.

While he’s been solid at the plate and on the bases, he’s provided consistency to the team’s defensive lineup, playing second base, third base and shortstop this season.

Last season, he combined to hit .308 (111-for-360) with 43 runs scored, 13 doubles, nine home runs, 42 RBIs and five stolen bases over two levels last season (High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham) in 99 games.

He was signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on July 2, 2019.
