On Monday, March 22, the Chicago White Sox optioned RHP Reynaldo López and outfielder Luis González to the team’s alternate site. López, a former Charlotte Knights hurler, posted a 9.00 ERA during the spring (four games).

Overall this spring, López went 1–1 with a 9.00 ERA (11.0 IP) in four games (two starts). A native of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, López has spent parts of the past five seasons in the majors — including the last four with the White Sox.

In 92 career games at the big league level, he is 26–34 with a 4.77 ERA over 490.2 innings pitched. He made his major league debut with the Washington Nationals on July 19, 2016. On December 7, 2016, he was traded along with Lucas Giolito and Dane Dunning to the White Sox for Adam Eaton.

2017 WITH THE KNIGHTS
He entered the 2017 season ranked third in the White Sox system by Baseball America. The 27-year-old, who last appeared in the minors with the Knights in 2017, went 6–7 in 22 starts with a 3.79 ERA that season (121.0 IP/131 SO).

He had a solid stretch in July (2017), which led to his promotion to the majors on August 11. While with the Knights in July he went 0–1 record with a 2.10 ERA in five starts (30.0 IP, 20 H, 7 R, 7 ER, 7 BB, 38 SO).

He struck-out a season-best 12 batters on July 16 (2017) against Gwinnett. For his efforts that July, he was named as the Chicago White Sox Minor League Pitcher of the Month.
