LHP Matt Tomshaw promoted to Charlotte from Double-A Birmingham

Notes: RHP Dylan Covey, who was optioned to Charlotte Knights from the Chicago White Sox after their game on August 6, was added to Charlotte’s active roster today. Covey, 27, has appeared in eight games (six starts) over 24.1 innings pitched with the Knights this season and is 0–0 with a 1.85 ERA. He is 1–7 with a 6.88 ERA in 16 appearances (10 starts) with the White Sox this season (52.1 innings pitched).
LHP Matt Tomshaw, 30, posted a 5–5 record with a 2.40 ERA in 15 games (12 starts) with the Double-A Birmingham Barons this season. Tomshaw was promoted to Charlotte earlier this season (May 3) and went 2–1 with a 7.90 ERA in seven games (one game started) with the Knights this season (13.2 IP). He was assigned back to Birmingham on June 1.
