Infielder Yolbert Sánchez is on a quick rise through the Chicago White Sox system. On April 26, he showed just how fast he can move through the ranks with a Triple-A debut for the ages.

Making his Triple-A debut with the Charlotte Knights in front of an Education Day crowd of nearly 8,000 fans, Sánchez racked up a three-hit day on Tuesday, April 26. The 25-year-old Cuban native was promoted from Double-A Birmingham that same day and was ready to shine. His three hits were a game-high for the Knights that afternoon.

“All the success he had down there (at Birmingham), he continued today and he didn’t put pressure on himself,” said manager Wes Helms on Sánchez after his debut.

One day later, Sánchez came out swinging in his second game of the season and followed up that three-hit performance with a two-hit night on April 27. He finished his second career Triple-A game with two hits, an RBI and a run scored. Manager Wes Helms continued to sing his praises after his second game.

“He’s going to fill that two-slot in the lineup and he’s going to play second base and third base some. He’s a guy that’s going to put the bat on the ball and find the holes — and that’s a guy you want in the lineup, especially at that top of the lineup,” added Helms.

Ranked as the number 16 prospect in the Chicago White Sox system as ranked by Baseball America, Sánchez was promoted to the Knights after getting off to a hot start with the Double-A Birmingham Barons earlier this season. The native of Ciudad Habana, Cuba, began the 2022 season with Double-A Birmingham and was hitting .353 (18-for-51) with seven runs scored, one double and six RBIs in 14 games with the Barons at the time of his promotion to Charlotte on April 26.

Last season, Sánchez combined to hit .308 (111-for-360) with 43 runs scored, 13 doubles, nine home runs, 42 RBIs and five stolen bases over two levels last season (High-A Winston-Salem and Double-A Birmingham) in 99 games.

Signed by the Chicago White Sox as a free agent on July 2, 2019, he made his professional debut later that year with the DSL White Sox and excelled. In 29 games there, Sánchez hit .297 (33-for-111) with 19 runs scored, eight doubles, one triple, two home runs, 12 RBIs and three stolen bases.
