Second Half Starts in Jacksonville

The Charlotte Knights wrapped up the first half of the season on Sunday, July 17 with a 6–3 loss to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at Truist Field in Uptown Charlotte.

After a four-day All-Star Break (Monday-Thursday), the second half officially starts tonight as the Knights will play the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp from Jacksonville, FL this weekend (Friday-Sunday).

LHP John Parke gets the ball to start the second half tonight as the Knights face the ‘Shrimp in a 7:05 p.m. game from 121 Financial Ballpark. The lefty will face rehabbing LHP Jesús Luzardo, who is currently on the Miami Marlins injured list since May 15 with a left forearm strain.

Parke (2–9, 6.83) is currently fourth in the International League in innings pitched (89.2) and 11th in strikeouts (75).

PARKE AGAINST THE JUMBO SHRIMP: In two starts this season against the Jumbo Shrimp, Parke is 0–1 with a 4.09 ERA (11.0 IP).

KNIGHTS AGAINST THE JUMBO SHRIMP: In 12 games head-to-head games this season, the Knights are 5–7 against the Jumbo Shrimp. INF Zach Remillard leads the way against the ‘Shrimp, hitting .400 (16-for-40) with 11 runs scored, three doubles, two home runs and 10 RBIs in 12 games. Catcher Carlos Pérez has launched three home runs in nine games against the Jumbo Shrimp this season.

WHO’S HOT
INF Zach Remillard has also been one of the hottest players on Charlotte’s roster. He enters tonight’s game with an 18-straight on-base streak (6/28-present). It is currently the third-highest active mark in the IL.

OF Mark Payton enters tonight’s game with a six-game hitting streak (7/9-present). Over that six-game span, Payton is hitting .360 (9-for-25) with five runs scored, three doubles, one triple, one home run and three RBIs.

RHP Rafael Dolis has not allowed an earned run in 12-straight appearances (6/12-present). He is 1–0 with a 0.00 ERA over that span with 13 strikeouts in 12.1 innings pitched.
