These days, I am getting a lot of recommendations for the 100 followers type of article.

Even I wanted to achieve that mark at the earliest possible time. But as I am publishing the articles and spending time on writing, the rush to gain followers is decreasing.

As humans, we all seek validation for the work we do. It also acts as a motivating factor in some sense if you are new to something. But I believe it hinders our growth in the long term if we solely rely on it for motivation.

Usually, whenever I get a notification from Medium, I become curious to see if there is any increase in followers or any claps or comments on my story.

However, when I start writing an article, I get so involved in the process of giving words to my thoughts, which gives me immense satisfaction, that I forget about the numbers.

I also check the stats quite a few times, but more than that, I am enjoying the process.

I am OK if I get followers slowly, but what matters to me is that people are following me because they resonate with my experiences. (I hope so.)

This feeling has kept me going to share my experiences and thoughts through writing.

It just doesn’t make sense if I have thousands of followers and only a few are reading our article. So it is most important to genuinely connect with the ones who relate to their journey while reading mine and also provide valuable feedback.

So my emotions kept switching between the two. I’m hoping that as I move forward, it should stay at the latter part.

I would love to know if anyone has experienced this before.

Cheers!
