A Painful Goodbye
A Free Verse
There’s no answer to old age,
Mind, Body and soul
are mere prisoners of time;
while thoughts fight
regrets and euphoria.
A day doesn’t pass
until yesterday was better
And tomorrow is bitter.
Even Presence is a curse
fighting bygones and prospects in pain.
An age of horror — they say;
with time frills, body wrinkles
and heart pricks.
Yet remorse is worse
than the curse.
No other soul,
battles a flock of regret
with an atonement
no one hears;
Weeps to embrace
the heaven’s gate
no one hears;
And chants a prayer
no one hears.
Feels like a perpetual
decay in purgatory.
For now, a night’s rest
is a devil’s nest.
Even the days await
the deathly hallows
coz there’s no more hiding
from numbness of the bones.
Morbid in bed, without an excuse
dissolves hope and faith.
Tell me lord —
Is this karma for my sins?
I’m sorry, I'm sorry and I'm sorry.
Isn’t a million enough?
You told me —
acceptance is forgiveness
yet the only thing you forgave
are my wonderful memories.
Now I live in a hollow like the rest
orphaned by my children.
Now the wound compounds
and the good times
remind me of the last.
For there’s no answer to old age
than death itself.
A place where rebirth,
can relive remorse.
And that’s my calling.
This poem is for my Grandma, who I absolutely adore.
May god bless you with everything you wish for.
Thank you for reading and being you!
Hope you enjoyed it.
Oh, and have a wonderful day ahead!
