All About Ego
Something I keep forgetting
Roz Warren, Writing Coach says, “Writers are all about ego.” A simple enough truism, yet one which I keep forgetting. I am quick to admit that I was all about ego when I was an actor. But a writer? Not so much.

The thing is, she has struck an old nerve with me. When I was president of the Arizona Yoga Association in the 1990s, I was shocked and saddened to discover that even Yoga teachers were all about ego!
When I agreed to help another teacher in starting the AYA, I envisioned it as a lovely opportunity to meet and befriend all the other spiritual flower children of my generation who were bringing this Eastern practice of health and enlightenment to Westerners.
After all, it had been taught to hippies in San Francisco, New York and the UK by gurus like Yogi Bhajan, Swami Satchidananda and Swami Vishnu-Devananda.
My wife and I had left all our friends in New York when we moved to Arizona. I thought this would be a great way to make new ones!
